The gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Ondo State, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede has described the APC government in Ondo State as lacking human face.

Jegede made this known on Tuesday while addressing Ondo State Artisan Groups that came to declare total support for his gubernatorial project.

“The healthcare facilities are no longer within the reach of the masses. I am particularly irked by the story of a boy of about five years old who should ordinarily enjoy free health care services but was made to go through pains until help came his way” Jegede recalled.

Speaking further, the PDP gubernatorial candidate said “All in the name of looking for revenue that will later find its way into the pockets of certain consultants, the boy who had appendicitis was abandoned to wallow in avoidable pains. Our doctors on duty insisted that he must pay the multifaceted medical fees before he could be attended to. The boy was truly writhing in pains yet nobody looked towards his side. That’s quite disdainful”.

“When help finally came the boy’s way, they collected all manners of fees ranging from consultancy fee, bed fee, sitting fee, management fee, pharmacy fee, visitors’ fee and all sorts of fees under ridiculous headings. At the end of the whole show, they equally insisted that the boy must provide blood even when blood was not administered on him. It was a Samaritan who volunteered to donate the blood before the poor boy could be released. This is inhuman and really disgusting but we intend to put a permanent end to such irresponsible governance”.

“Opportunity to access free medicare will be given. Mother and child hospital will also be located in both Southern and Northern senatorial districts so that people from the districts can also taste the sweetness embedded in good governance” Jegede posited.

On education, the legal icon took a swipe at the government saying it had failed woefully to maintain the high educational standard for which Ondo State was known.

“Education is our pride, it is the source of our development. Lamentably, it has been destroyed by the Akeredolu-led admnistration due to ineptitude. There is high number of dropouts because parents can no longer afford the extortionate school fees. People from Ibadan, Lagos, Ogun, Abuja have now taken over our schools because the indigenous people could not afford the fees” the PDP candidate regretted.

“There is obviously a misplacement of priorities. The 6.5 billion naira wasted on less than 100m overhead bridge could be expended on education which is our pride. But the government would prefer to cut corners through such phony projects. We will change the narratives” Jegede assured the gathering.

On threats issued by an APC chieftain that violence will be unleashed on the people during the election time, Jegede appealed to the people not to entertain any form of fear and in like manner, warned APC not to throw the State into avoidable crisis for their own selfish reasons.

“I heard an Ondo State APC chieftain claiming to be a militant and threatening to unleash violence against the people of the State. I advise him and anyone of his ilk to perish the thought. Ondo State people are not known for cowardice. Those who are coming from outside the State to campaign for APC should kindly drop their hooliganism and brigandage at the border as they approach the State. We are peace-loving but we will not allow any unscrupulous elements to intimidate us under any guise. We are ready for them” Jegede declared.
