Unity Foundation To Train 500 Women In Skill Acquisition

Five hundred women from Janta- Apata, Shagari kwana, and Rafin-fa areas of Jos north will be trained on cosmetology, catering, and makeup by a faith-based nongovernmental Organization, Unity Foundation in Jos the Plateau state capital.

The program coordinator Ummulkhairi Illiyas told The Precision NG on reasons for organizing the skills acquisition program for Muslim women in the areas.

She noted that most women in those areas were noted for commercial activities, but suffered neglect from the Government.

Ummulkhairi said after careful selection and screening the women, they commenced the training in batches.

On his part the sponsor of the program and Director Unity foundation, Abubakar Salisu Maidankali noted some of the reasons that influenced his decision to support the project, including the neglect from government and to ensure that, poverty is eradicated.

Alhaji Abubakar added that government alone cannot handle and get rid of paucity in their respective communities, as such his foundation intervenes through the skills acquisition program with the training of five hundred women in that municipal.

He expressed that this is not the only project Unity Foundation embarked upon, as they had renovates Mosques in other communities, where they find out is their priority, build some in Muslim minority communities as well as sharing of palliatives in the Muslim communities, particularly during the lockdown period of COVID-19.

The Director Unity foundation, Abubakar Salisu Yaro opined that, his Organization (Unity Foundation) had also dogged boreholes in communities and for the Mosques that were in needs of pipe-borne water, within Jos Township and the neighboring communities of Jos, including Narguta, Sabon Fegi, Nasarawa, Babale, and Yantifa.

Some of the beneficiaries of the training program could not hide their feelings. Hajiya Aisha Musa and Talatu Izan as well as Yar-Malam expressed their optimism and appreciations to the kind gesture adding that, they will use the skills to learn to better their lives and that of their children.

The training organizers said they will ensure that they observed all the COVID 19 protocol by spacing the program in phases to avoid masses contact.
