The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit hereby condoles with the Lagos State Government and Lagosians over the destruction of lives and properties witnessed in Lagos in the past few days.
It was indeed a sad event where some misguided people and many undesirable elements hijacked the genuine and well intentioned EndSars Campaign to wreck havoc on the State and its residents. These people not only destroyed Government and private properties in the State, they also went as far as looting private and Government facilities.
These happenings are highly condemnable and does not define the Omoluabi ethos that people in Lagos are known for.
Islam forbids destruction of lives and properties, therefore, MSSN as an organization hereby condemns it in its entirety.
We are appealing to all good citizens of Lagos state especially the Youths who feel aggrieved to allow peace to reign and embrace dialogue as a means of achieving their aim. Surely, violence solves no problem.
We give kudos to the the Lagos State Government for setting up judicial panel as demanded by Mr. President and for also expanding it to include the investigation of the Lekki shooting incidence to unravel the truth behind it and also for setting up relief fund for those who has suffered police brutality.
MSSN appeals to all Nigerians to avoid spreading news without verifying the authenticity as fake News has become another pandemic which may have played a big role in regrettable events witnessed in Lagos and other part of the country in the past few days.
Allah warned us in Q49 vs 6 that as believers, we must ensure to investigate every information and confirm its truthfulness before sharing it. This should be keenly observed by all even on Social Media as it has become the main purveyor of Fake News.
Finally, we call on the Federal and Lagos State Governments to create a support fund to assist businesses that were victims of the looting and arson witnessed in a way to help them to recover part of their losses.
We pray Allah continue to guide and guard our leaders and help them to make the right decisions. We also pray to Allah to give all those that lost their loved ones in the said incidents the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Amin.
Surely, Lagos Shall Rise Again. In shaa Allah.
Yours in Humanity,
