Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have backed the move by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to set up a committee to collate reports on victims of Police brutality in order to make redress.
While addressing EndSars youth protesters in Akure, Governor Akeredolu promised to set up a committee to collate cases of infractions on people’s rights by the police.
The Governor who said the Committee will be inaugurated this week pledged his support towards ending police brutality in all ramifications.
The Lawmakers who spoke through the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, said the Governor’s position was a step in the right direction.
Oleyelogun who condemned reported cases of Police brutality across the country called for immediate reform that will inject sanity into the police force in the country.
While commending the youths for their resilience since the protests started, Oleyelogun enjoined them to continue to be peaceful in their approach to making their voices heard.
He called on the leadership of the country at various levels to do something urgently to address the agitation of the teeming youth across the country.
