The Ondo State Chapter of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has rejoiced with the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on his reelection in the just concluded governorship election held on Saturday, 10th October, 2020.
In a Press Statement signed by the Association’s State Chairman, Comrade Kehinde Olomiye, NANNM said the victory of Akeredolu signifies that the people of the state actually appreciate various policies and projects that are being executed in the last three and half years by the APC administration in the state.
Comrade Olomiye who congratulated Governor Akeredolu and his deputy-elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa on behalf of nurses and midwives in the state, said the victory is a credence to his present administration’s giant strides in various fronts of governance especially positive repositioning of health, industrial and education sector as well as regular payment of workers’ salaries.
The NANNM Chairman reminded Governor Akeredolu of the need to appoint qualified permanent secretaries in the state civil service, to correct aged-long injustice to his senior members.
While expressing appreciation to him on his administration’s efforts at making health sector better than he met it, Comrade Olomiye appealed to Arakunrin Akeredolu to give priority to restructuring of UNIMED teaching hospital, Ondo.
He said there was a particular need to repeal the edicts that established the Teaching hospital, so that it could fulfill the mandate of effective tertiary healthcare delivery to the people of the state and the nation at large.
The NANNM leadership also pleaded with Governor Akeredolu to ensure timely constitution of Boards of the Ondo state Hospital Management Board and the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, for smooth runnings of the sector.
Comrade Olomiye prayed Lord to grant the governor more wisdom and guidance to pilot the affairs of the state to a greater height in the next four years.
