The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the umpteenth time, wishes to inform the general public that it has no reason to sponsor and cannot sponsor any attack against anyone or organization for whatever reason.
Notwithstanding that the burning down of our Secretariat was uncalled for, wicked and particularly satanic, the PDP however sues for peace and immediate halting of unnecessary destruction of properties, knowing fully well that such act will do no one any good. The scale of violence and wanton destruction of properties in our dear State is already alarming and worrisome.
Our party wishes to add that it has nothing against the protesting youths who have resolved to lift themselves out of the chessboard where their lives and destinies are being used as pawns. Unfortunately, the noble ideals behind these protests have been hijacked by unscrupulous elements, whose desire is to unleash violence on innocent citizens.
Our party however cautions the youths not to allow such characters take undue advantage of their genuine concerns, to launch criminal attacks on the hapless people whose interest, the protest was to serve. Neither must they allow themselves to be derailed nor carried away by the general support their agitations had gotten.
The PDP therefore strongly advises all the security agencies in the State to spread their dragnet with a view to arresting the perpetrators of these heinous acts and bring them to justice accordingly. This is the only way to avert future occurrence of this type of obnoxious act.
