Diamond Group has condemn in strong terms the killing of Olufon of Ifon, Oba Adegoke Israel Adeusi by suspected kidnappers, along Elegbeka road in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Speaking on behalf of Diamond Group, Nigeria, Musa Toyyib Olaniyi, described the murder of the monarch as one death too many for the beleaguered people of Ondo State in general, and Ose in particular.

He said the pervasive insecurity in Nigeria generally and Ondo State is worrisome.

“The statistics of kidnappings, robberies, killings and general criminalities are numbing. Nobody is safe, security operatives inclusive.

“And right under our nose, Nigeria is sliding into an hobbesian state of nature where life is short, nasty and brutish.

“Diamond Group calls on the Federal Government to arrest with dispatch the insecurity in the land by rejigging the security architectures of the country including changing the heads of the security agencies who appeared tired, clueless and drained of ideas necessary to combat insecurity in the land.

The group also called on the Federal Government to set in motion the machinery to implement community policing by moving policing and internal security matters from the bloated exclusive legislative list to concurrent list so that states in Nigeria can have firmer control over security issue in their domains.

“Early this year (22nd January, 2020), the group did a press release to canvass support for the establishment of Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed ‘Operation Amotekun’ when the Federal Government was unnecessarily becoming a clog in the wheel of its creation.

“Now that Amotekun is fully operational in Ondo State and in the  Southwest of Nigeria, we say Amotekun should begin to prey on Kidnappers, bandits and sundry criminals terrorizing the people.”
