Schoolgirls Abducted In Zamfara By Terrorists Freed

The abducted schoolgirls of Government Girls Science Secondary School Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State have eventually regained their freedom.

They were abducted by terrorists last week Friday in the school.


The girls numbering 279 according to official figure by government were received on Tuesday morning by Zamafara State Governor, Bello Muhammad along side his wife, heads of security Agencies and some other officials at Government House, Gusau.


The Governor said the girls were released on Monday night following a combined effort of security agencies and the repentant bandits.


He said the actual number of the abducted has now been confirmed to be 279, and they are all back safely.


The Governor said no ransom was paid before the girls were released.


He said the girls will under go medical checkup before they are reunited with their families.


He charged the young girls to consider the incident as some thing destined by Allah, and should never discourage them to continue with their education pursuit.


Jamilu Ibrahim reports that the anxiety that hitherto engulfed the people in the state over the sad event is now over as families of the released girls troop to Government House, Gusau to have a glimpse of the children.
