The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs Victoria Nnenna Ani has advised the corps members to avoid any form of distractions during the hands on training of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) components.

The State Coordinator offered the advise during an unscheduled visit to various centres within the camp during the ongoing orientation course.

Mrs Ani said that participants should appreciate the management of the Scheme for committing huge investment to SAED programme in order for them to take home precious skills and vocations during and after the service year.

“Your commitment and concentration to the training will give you accelerated learning process and if you do not waiver or see it as waste of precious time, the testimonies of serving corps members will be a child’s play compared to yours at the end of the day.

“It is a wrong notion or perception to think that NYSC is forcing you to acquire various skills or vocations, far from it, rather you should count yourselves lucky to participate in the in-camp training so that you would have conveniently answered the question: what next after service?.

“Not many of you were born with silver spoons in their mouth or come from very comfortable homes but NYSC has provided you with a lifetime opportunity to either work with you hands and brains and become independent and employers of labour or remain dependent under the influence or authority of another person as employees.

“Many of the camp officials did not have this special privilege you are enjoying now during their service year, otherwise they would have been great entrepreneurs and be competing favourably with captains of industries we have in the land. I am not saying paid employment is not good but it is not a bad idea either to have another stream of income,” she said.

The Coordinator expressed happiness at the large number of participants and thanked the Facilitators and Trainers for the transfer of knowledge and impartation.
