One of the Anambra governorship aspirants under All Progressive Party (APC), Dr. George Moghalu while briefing the newsmen recently said he’s in the race to fulfill God’s will for the state.

“What I come to do this afternoon is to return the form that I collected from the party. We are awaiting for the primary and if by the grace of God I emerge victorious in the primary, we will still be waiting for the election on November 6, 2021 all by his grace.

Like I consistently said before now, power belongs to God and gives it to who he pleases at His own time, what I’m doing actually is to make myself available for God to use me, so that His will would be done in our state.

Like I said earlier when I was talking to the National Secretary, I said winning Anambra State Governorship election will required consensus of the political elites across party lines, so for the party to win the election we have to generate this consensus and we have to do that only with a candidate that is generally acceptable.

The election of November 6 will not be a tea party, is going to be a strong contest. Every party will come to the election with their best, with the desire to win so I have offered myself to my people of Anambra state.

I’m coming to the business with experience, with knowledge, with capacity, with integrity, with courage and determination to win the election.”

Responding to the question on efforts by Anambra Patriots to arrive at the consensus candidate, Moghalu said

“If I must be honest with you I will wish there is consensus and that consensus will be me but the truth about it is that, I know a good number has collected forms and I know a good number has returned their forms but that is not to say that there is still no room for discussion.

In politics, 24 hours is a long time. I’m sure that consultations will still take place. People will look at the possibility of working together but the important thing here is that; every person is qualify to be governor so I respect that belief as we go along.”

When asked whether he’s worried about the security situation in his zone and what message he has to the relevant security agencies in the country in creating enabling environment for the election processes to be hitch free, he replied:

“To be honest with you I feel worried. I feel concerned, like any critical stakeholder in Nigeria project, I feel worried especially as it concerns my zone in the South East because this people that are killed are people’s children, some of them are people’s husbands, they are people’s brothers. As for me nothing is worth shedding any blood, it cannot be justified and one thing again, I don’t know whether people realise that must of the infrastructure that has been destroyed, to rebuild them, we must put our hands in tax payers money because if a police station and a correctional center are burnt down; it must certainly be rebuilt and it may interest you to know from the South East where I come from, some of these structures were built by community efforts..
It is a very sad situation, if you look at history, every disagreement, every quarrel every war has never ended on a battlefield, it usually ends on the negotiation table and the question I keep asking is “why do we have to war first before negotiating? Why can’t we jump that aspect of the warrying, that aspect of the fighting, that aspect of disagreements and go straight to the negotiation table and then negotiate our issues?”

People said we are having this insecurity because we are having unemployment, yes I agree, but is killing ourselves the solution for unemployment? The answer is no. Like I always said, government cannot employ everybody. This fact must be established, rather what government should do is to create enabling environment for the private sector to grow because it is the private sector that employs but when the private sector is collapsed we have the unemployment challenge.

Meanwhile, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, the secretary, Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee while receiving Dr. Mogahlu’s nomination form said the party will ensure that a level playing ground is provided for all the aspirants at the forth coming party primary.

“We have no anointed candidate. The party will work with who ever emerges at the primary.

In line with Gov. Mai Mala Buni led Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee, we are committed to working with all. That is why we need all to join hands with the party by ensuring that Anambra State join the Progressives come Nov. 6, at the forthcoming state Governorship election.”
