The People’s Democratic Party in Ondo State has frowned at Akeredolu’s decision to spend 2-billion naira on a new Government house amidst backlog of unpaid salaries.

The State Party Chairman, Hon. Fatai Adams made this known while addressing news men at the party’s secretariat, Alagbaka, Akure.

According to the party chairman, “While the present Administration of Akeredolu has a backlog of un-paid salaries of workers, it is proposing to build a 2-billion naira new Government House in Akure. This is not only ridiculous but the surest evidence that the Governor has completely lost direction. Dr Olusegun Mimiko, Akeredeolu’s predecessor built a very befitting Government House, in 2013, shortly before Akeredolu assumed the reins of government. To spend 2 billion naira of taxpayers money at this time is the height of callousness and wastefulness.”

He said further that the 2-billion naira should have been channelled towards infrastructural development that will benefit the poor masses rather than embarking on project that will only serve very few individuals.

“Considering the terrible economic situation and hunger in the land, is it proper or reasonable for a government to embark on a 2-billion naira project that will only serve very few individuals, when millions of people are languishing in despicable penury and dying without basic healthcare service delivery”.

Hon. Adams also lamented about the unfortunate resignation of over 105 medical doctors from Ondo State public service Over the inability of the government to pay the medical personnel their due salaries and hazard allowances as at when due.

He added that Ondo State was the destination for medical tourism in the South West because of first class service delivery found here under the PDP administration.

The PDP also questioned the manner in which the APC led Federal and State government is handling the current security challenges in the country.

“In the last few years, national security has collapsed almost irretrievably and the APC government both at the Federal and State levels seem to be practically overwhelmed by the unfortunate circumstances which has made them to completely lose focus and direction.

The party chairman however, charged the Federal Government to allowed the operation of State policing has this will stem the tide of the current security situation in the country.

He however, assured the people of Ondo State that the good times they once savoured under the PDP administration are almost here again.

“We shall not give up or be overwhelmed by the suffering and hopelessness foisted on us by the APC government, because we can already see light at the end of the tunnel.”
