The NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa has asserted that NYSC remains the only Scheme that is producing worthy nation builders.

Mr. Megwa made the assertion when he addressed the dislodged Lagos State corps members at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

“My worthy ambassadors of state of the aquatic splendour, I am pleased to address you today because you have proven to be of sound character going by the reports given by my colleague and host Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani”.

“National Youth Service Corps is the only Scheme where graduates from various backgrounds are pooled together to contribute meaningfully to the national development and I have no doubt that you have began the process with your dislodgement to the Sunshine State.

“Federal Government of Nigeria has placed value on you and you need to enhance the value by allowing the Scheme to pass through you. What do I mean? You need to be the agent of change we desire in this country”.

The Coordinator from the Centre of Excellence who was the first Protocol Officer to the Director General of NYSC to be first appointed said that the time is now to change from the old ways of doing things.

“My diamond and most cherished corps members, this period is a defining moment for us as a country to change the system of doing things, and the onus lies on you as privileged nation builders to drive the process”.

“The change we desire starts with us. Let us do away with the old system of taking undue advantage for personal gain or self aggrandisement. Let the declaration made on you while graduating that you are worthy in learning and character be a watchword to make this country great again”.

Mr. Megwa said that the corps members should not discard the good idea of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme established nine years ago.

“I am happy to tell you that an ex-corps member in Lagos who embraced Photography as a skill during the service year is today toast of many celebrities and notable personalities who invites him for engagement across the globe”.

“You can create your own world and become the person of your dream. Let me however tell you that of all the great personalities we are all admiring, none has made it under the roofs of their parents. I am not saying you should not take tutelage under them but you need to create identity for yourself just the way they created for themselves”.

He said that the three weeks orientation course is designed to prepare the corps members for the challenges of post tertiary education and charged them to be disciplined and obey all camp rules.

“The Camp Officials are your parents, brothers and sisters and I am appealing to you not to make them angry. Comport yourselves in a manner that the name given to you as worthy ambassadors of this noble Scheme will stick with you wherever you go”.

The well respected Protocol Officer appreciated Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani and her team for taking good care of the dislodged Lagos State corps members.

In her short opening remarks, the host State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani thanked her Lagos State counterpart for coming down to see and appreciate the excellent welfare his corps members is exposed to in the Sunshine State.

Mrs. Ani reported that the dislodged corps members are well disciplined and participate enthusiastically in all programmes and activities with segregation.

One of the dislodged corps member, Aje, Iyanuoluwa Charity with code number LA/21A/4712 appreciated the two State Coordinators for their love, parental care and quality mentoring extended to them while Ozurumba, Bright Chimma with code number LA/21A/4716 presented a gift on behalf of her compatriots to Mr. Eddy Megwa.
