The problem with Nigeria’s constitution is not really its content but various interpretations giving to its provisions by legal practitioners.
The Chief Imam of Alh. Khaleel Fawehinmi Govt. House Mosque, Ondo State, Alhaji Yunus Anola stated this during his sermon at the Jumaat Service.
Alh. Anola who was also playing host to Muslim Lawyers during the Jumaat serviceblamed Legal professionals for controversies surrounding the Nigeria’s constitution.
The Cleric also expressed concern that many Nigerians who are today condemning the 1999 Constitution do not have copies of the legal document.
He charged Lawyers and Judges in the country to carry out their duties with the fear of God and not on technical considerations.
Alhaji Anola also called for the domestication of the nation’s constitution, saying copies should be made in Local languages.
