The Olujare of Ijare Land, Oba Adebamigbe Oluwagbemigun – the Kokotiri II has passed on to join his ancestors.

Oba Oluwagbemigun ascended the throne in 1996. He was a trained Engineer. The late Monarch was 83 years before his passage.

News of his demise went viral on Thursday night but sources including some high chiefs in the town that were contacted by The Precision NG say it was a rumour.

The Prime Minister of Ijare who is the Sapetu of Ijare, High Chief Wemimo Olaniran has however confirmed his passage.

Ijare is one of the towns in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Following his passage, the High Chief Salotun of Ijare, a Male, will now act as the Regent (acting King) because Ijare tradition doesn’t support a Female Regent.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to include the age of the King.
