Ex Federal Lawmaker, Akinlaja Boosts Ondo Kingdom’s Economy With N5m

The Former member of the House of Representatives, representing Ondo East/ West Federal Constituency, Hon Joseph Iranola Akinlaja has boosted the economy of Ondo Kingdom with five million naira cash.

This is part of the weeklong activities to mark the 71st birthday of the former lawmaker.

The largesse saw Hon. Akinlaja distributing five million naira cash to the less privileged, widows, people living with disability and other vulnerable groups within the community.

The empowerment programme held at Akiavic event hall at the weekend witnessed mammoth crowd of beneficiaries, women groups, youth groups, artisans, religious bodies and well wishers.

The beneficiaries were admonished to utilize the cash gift to start petty trading to afford them daily meal.

Mrs Joy Olafisoye while speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked and commended the donor for his benevolence and his love for Ondo community most importantly as he is out of political office.

Earlier, the former lawmaker paid a condolence visit to the widow of late Aderemi Adedeji, a flood victim in the community and gave two hundred thousand naira cash to the deceased family.

He also paid an unscheduled visit to an abandoned baby named Esther who was dumped in a sack bag and rescued by WHO I AM FOUNDATION at UNIMED TEACHING HOSPITAL Ondo.

Hon. Akinlaja had earlier celebrated his 71st birthday on June 1 with a book launch of his autobiography titled, “LABOUR, POLITICS AND GRACE” in Abuja.

The birthday and the book launch had Otunba Mike Adenuga as the Chief Launcher.

As a conscious community leader, he brought the birthday thanksgiving and reception to Ondo City on June 7.

A novelty Football match, cash gift to road side petty traders and other humanitarian interventions were put together for the birthday and book launch in the community.
