Lagos residents have started rating the two year old administration of Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Majority of Lagosians who spoke on the midterm records of the Governor commended the outstanding performance of Sanwo-Olu since he took of the state’s leadership in May, 2019.
One of the high profile residents of Lagos State and the leader of Pan- Yoruba Socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has given a pass mark to the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. In his unbiased midterm assesment of the governor, Chief Adebanjo who resides in the highbrow Lekki area of Lagos opined that the performance signature of Sanwo-Olu can be seen in all sectors of the state .
The highly respected nonagenarian
also averred that Governor Sanwo-Olu deserves commendation for his prudent management of the state resources as well as the visible transformation of Lagos State in a little above two years.
The elder statesman further averred that Lagos State under the leadership of Sanwo-Olu has continue to witness steady growth and development, especially in the areas of economy and infrastructural development. Adebanjo also emphasized that the remarkable transformation of Lagos State was still impressively achieved by Sanwo-Olu despite the drastic reduction in the monthly handout from the federation account.
Chief Adebanjo also took time to applaud the revenue generation drive and leadership ingenuity of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos State in the last two years. He nonetheless charged the governor not to rest on his oars in his quest for a greater Lagos.
Similarly, Coordinator of the Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness, Dr. Gabriel Nwambu has also rated the performance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu very high in the last two years. He equally expressed his appreciation for the governor’s aggressive and systematic approach to road infrastructures that had been delivered in quite a numbers of urban and rural communities.
“I want him to improve on water project. Almost every city in Nigeria is so poorly flooded with water and we need to see properly planned efforts to overcome this problem in Lagos. But he has done so well on roads and building community road infrastructures.
“He has done very well. I will give him a high pass mark. He has done things that I am proud of. He has done very well. He should improve more on the issue of security, infrastructures and water. I think those are the challenges he needs to focus on the more”.
More so, Dr. Gabriel Nwambu again commended the revenue generation ingenuity of Governor Sanwo-Olu in view of the global economic meltdown occasioned by the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized that the pandemic had ruined global economy.
“Global economy had gone down and Nigeria is not an exception. Lagos State too is also not an exception because it is an integral part of Nigeria. Most of the revenues in Nigeria are generated from Lagos State.
“You know, when you talk about FIRS and others, Lagos State is one major state with the chunks of the revenues; but I know that the impact of Covid-19 has affected the state. So, Sanwo-Olu as the governor has scored a pass mark. He has performed credibly well given the circumstances he found himself in governance”, Gabriel Nwambu commended.
