“…the release of fund by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN for the preparation of Community Action Recovery Plans, CARPs under the result Area 2 of the NG-CARES programme goes a long way to fasttrack the successful implementation of the programme in the State”.
These are the words of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Sunday Akintomide at the opening session of a one-day training programme on preparation of Community Action Recovery Plans, (CARPs) organized for Community Facilitators by Ondo State Fadama Coordination Office in Akure, the State capital under the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme.

Communication Officer in the ministry quoted the Permanent Secretary as saying “the prompt release of fund to kick start the preparatory activities of the programme in the State is due to the sincerity of the Governor in promoting food security and reducing poverty among the citizens of the State.”
Akintomide explained that the Result Area 2 which is being handled by Fadama III Project, essentially focuses on food security and safe functioning of food supply chains. It has four Disbursement Link Indicators (DLIs), out of which three will be implemented for beneficiaries in the State, the Permanent Secretary added According to him, the three (3) DLIs are (i) agricultural input and services to farmers (ii) support to farmers on improved agricultural infrastructure (farm roads, Access road, bridges, culvert etc) and (iii) agricultural asset for production and processing which will mitigate against food lost and waste.
Akintomide assured that with this support from the State Government, the Ministry will ensure speedy delivery and successful implementation of the Result Area to meet the intended targets.
Meanwhile, the State Project Coordinator of Fadama III Project in the State, Mr. Olusiji Olatunji revealed that 37 Community Facilitators have been trained on preparation of Community Action Recovery Plans (CARPs).
In his words ‘… the CARPs serves as instrument for fund disbursement to farmers, stating that any farmer whose name and enterprise is not captured in the CARPs will not be able to receive support.
Olatunji who was full of appreciation to the State Government declared that with this support of Mr. Governor, Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu SAN 180 CARPs have been produced representing 18,000 beneficiaries across the 18 Local Government Areas of the State. He assured that the Result Area 2 of the NG-CARES will be implemented and delivered on the programme objective.
