The residents of Ajipowo Community, Oda town in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State were recently relieved following a major intervention in the area.
The Rotary Club of Akure and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Michael Osaretin, jointly sponsored the provision of a borehole with hand-pump installed for the use of the villagers.
It will be recalled that the residents major source of water was a dirty pond located about a mile from the community.
But the intervention has put an end to the suffering of the locals, who could not hide their joy when the water project was commissioned last week.
The water project came to being as a result of initiative of the youth corps member, Michael Osaretin, who solicited for the Club’s partnership for sponsorship of the project.
The project also attracted inputs from some organisations.
Meanwhile, some of the residents praised Rotary Club of Akure and the corp member for providing them with potable water.
According to the locals, the initiative will put a permanent solution to the perennial water problem they have been facing for decades.
