The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State Chapter has commiserated with the people of Ikare Akoko over the recent torrential rainstorm in the ancient town.
Kennedy Peretei, PDP Publicity Secretary in a statement on Tuesday however called on the Ondo State Government and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to immediately rise to the occasion and provide succour for the victims.
“The rainstorms that ravaged Ikare-Akoko town of Ondo State on Sunday this week has left a very sour taste in our mouths.
“No fewer than one hundred and fifty houses had their roofs completely blown off, while others collapsed under the torrential rainfall.
“Even the palaces of Olukare of Ikare and the Owa-Ale of Ikare were not spared. Three persons also lost their lives to this disaster,” the statement noted.
The PDP added that due to the extent of the damage, a panel of enquiry should be set up to unravel the major cause of the incident, with a view to averting a repeat of such occurrence in future.
