As Nigerians join other Muslims worldwide to celebrate Eid-el- Maulud, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBOH) today; leaders in the country have been admonished to emulate the special qualities he exemplified while on earth.
A leading Governorship aspirant for Oyo State number one seat, who is also the Osi Basorun of Ibadanland, Alhaji Azeez Popoola Adeduntan gave this admonition in his Eid-el-Maulud message to Nigerians and particularly the people of Oyo State.
Alhaji Adeduntan urged all Muslims to imbibe the injunctions of Prophet Muhammad, which teach humility, gratitude and charity towards one another and to also lend helping hands to the needy in the society; especially during this period of high cost of living evidenced by prohibitive food prices, petroleum products-cooking gas, kerosene, diesel, PMS due to high exchange rates of the Naira, relative to foreign currencies.
Indeed, NIgerians are facing hard times, apart from insecurity, banditry and threats of secession.
The Harvard trained, board certified International cardiovascular Surgeon, urged Muslim faithfuls to pray for the country, noting that as this year’s celebration comes just about nine weeks before the end of the year; Muslims and all Nigerians should seize the opportunity to offer special prayers for unity, stability and economic growth.
Alhaji Adeduntan, who is also the chairman and founder of Dr Azeez Popoola Adeduntan Foundation (DAPAF ) – Nigeria and the USA, for the needy ,enjoined Muslims to celebrate the event with optimism and unflinching hope that a better tomorrow awaits the country and assured residents of Oyo State that a brighter and better Oyo State is possible come May 29, 2023, if the voters in the state give him their mandates.
