One of the groups championing the Governorship aspiration of the Osi Basorun of Ibadanland and the world renowned International cardiovascular Surgeon, Chief Dr. Azeez Popoola Adeduntan, Adeduntan Supporters Group, (ASG) has urged him to declare his intention for Oyo State Governorship ambition for 2023 now.
ASG in a statement by his spokesperson, Damilola Adekanlu and made available to Journalists in Ibadan, the state capital said Adeduntan had paid his due as a party man and urged him to officially make his intention known.
The statement stated that, Adeduntan who is the founder, Dr Azeez Popoola Adeduntan Foundation (DAPAF) has been an active politician since 2011 when he first contested under the Labour Party (LP) as the Governorship candidate of the party.
“But for his party, Adeduntan would have won the election based on his performance as the winner at the debate on splash FM, the affirmation by EX GOVERNOR LAM Adesina of blessed memory and teeming members as well as voters in Oyo state.
“In 2015, Chief Dr. Adeduntan alongside the Governor Seyi Makinde, Teslim Folarin and others were all Governorship Aspirants under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before it was unjustly given to Senator Folarin which was why the party failed woefully at the poll.”
Our Candiddate (Adeduntan) joined the government of late former Governor, Abiola Ajimobi for just two years and few months and turned around the fortune of health sector in the state, with successes recorded at Adeoyo Hospital, Ring Road, Yemetu, SAKI GENERAL HOSPITAL, ISEYIN GENERAL HOSPITAL, OGBOMOSO GENERAL HOSPITAL, OYO GENERAL HOSPITAL, LAUTECH (with a state of the art MRI), the commencement of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), 2 billion naira worth of equipments from the USA at no cost to Oyo state Government,endowment funds, a new chest clinic at Jericho donated by CHEVRON and facilitated by him, Olodo health centre, which today has been turned to Infectious Disease Centre, Olodo among many others including capacity building by turning the schools of nursing and hygiene into colleges etc.
The group believes if Oyo State APC offer him the governorship ticket, he would achieve victory for the party, with hope to leverage his international connections to transform the state.
“Adeduntan having served the global community is more than ready to serve and develop Oyo State.” the statement added.
