Argentina skipper, Lionel Messi has won the 2021 Ballon d’Or award.
The award makes it the seventh in his over 20 years career.
The award is put in place by France Football magazine to celebrate footballers who have exemplified themselves in their career.
Last season, Messi led his Argentine teammate to win the Copa America thrashing Brazil in the final.
Robert Lewandowski was the first runner’s up while Jorginho came third.
Meanwhile, Alexia Putellas of Spain won the women’s Ballon d’Or, while Robert Lewandowski won the newly introduced award, Striker of the Year award.
Chelsea also won the newly introduced, Club of the Year award, while Gianluigi Donnarumma won the Yashin Trophy.
For the first time in over a decade, Cristiano Ronaldo finishes outside the top five in the Ballon d’Or.
