Federal and State Governments have been charged to devote more money to E-libraries of tertiary institutions across the country so as to enhance research work and inculcate reading culture in students.

This is the suggestion of some Librarians during a meeting of committee of Monotechnic and Polytechnic librarians in Nigeria held at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the group, Dr Chris Enyia explained that e- library would give room for in-depth research work that would address some of the challenges facing the nation and reduce stress often experienced to solve some academic problems.

Dr Enyia stressed the need for management of Monotechnic and Polytechnic to pay responsibility allowance, create better career structure and good data base centres for polytechnic and Monotechnic librarians.

Also, the second vice Chairman of the committee of Liberians who doubles as the librarian of Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Pastor Emmanuel Ayeni worried over poor reading culture among students.

He affirmed that the library of the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti is well equipped with modern analog and electronic materials required for any academic work urging students and staff of the institution to take advantage of such.

In his lecture on the topic “Emerging Trends In Data Gathering Management And Application In Decision Making” Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti, Dr Dayo Oladebeye urged librarians to be conversant with Information Communication Technology tools to enhance better libarary operations.

Dr Oladebeye said with the assistance of present administration led by president Muhammadu Buhari, Federal polytechnic Ado Ekiti had gone digital.

Dr Oladebeye therefore called on researchers to invest in quality data management software to ease manual data management.
