Police Tactical Operatives in Zamfara State have arrested a notorious bandit also known as Maiyammata.
Maiyammata was apprehended on Wednesday within the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara during a patrol.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ayuba Elkanah, said he was arrested while trying to kidnap passengers at Koliya village.
Maiyammata, formerly of the Bello Turji gang, is now believed to be working for another wanted kingpin, Kachalla Sani-Black.
Sani-Black operates along Zurmi, Shinkafi, and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of the state.
“One AK-47 rifle, double magazines with three rounds of live ammunition, and one Boxer motorcycle were recovered from him,” the CP said.
Elkanah added that efforts are on to apprehend Maiyammata’s accomplices and charges would be filed against them in court.
