Akeredolu Promises To Support Ondo Pharmacists As Aladenola Bags Award

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has said his administration will continue to recognize and encourage professionals who distinguish themselves in their various areas of human endeavours.

Akeredolu made the assertion in his keynote address at the Year 2021 Edition of the Annual World Pharmacists Day organized by the Ondo State Branch of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN).

The Governor who was represented at the event by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye, appreciated pharmacists in the state for their tremendous contributions to the improvement of healthcare delivery in Ondo State.

While stating that his administration is passionate about quality in all sectors of the state, Akeredolu encouraged pharmacists to continue to give their best in delivering qualitative health care services to the people of Ondo State.

The Governor congratulated pharmacists and assured them of his administration’s unflinching support at all times.

At the celebration with the theme: “Pharmacists, Always Trusted For Health: The Evolving Roles of Pharmacists in Healthcare Management”, awards of excellence were presented to four eminent personalities in recognition of their tremendous contributions to the growth and development of the pharmacy profession in particular and societal development in general.

The eminent personalities include the Chief of Staff to the Ondo State Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist (Mrs.) Folukemi Aladenola, Founder and Group Managing Director of Drugfield Pharmaceutical Limited, Pharmacist Olakunle Ekundayo and the immediate past National Chairman, Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Pharmacist Samuel Adekola.

Aladenola appreciated God for the award conferred on her noting that the award is precious as it is the second award she would be receiving from her “primary constituency”, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN).

The Permanent Secretary urged his colleagues to continue to give out their best in service delivery and remain diligent in the discharge of their duties.

Earlier in his welcome address at the event, the state Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Ondo State Branch, Pharmacist Robinson Akindeko noted that the annual World Pharmacists Day is designed to review the various advancements in the pharmacy profession as well as its tremendous contributions to global ,national and local development, especially in the area of health.

While stating that the impact of pharmacists in combating the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be over-emphasized, Akindeko said this year’s celebration featured medical outreach in four designated locations across the state.

He said the awardees were carefully selected in recognition of their immense
contributions to the growth and development of the pharmacy profession.
