Akeredolu Turns The Sod Of Akinkugbe Faculty Of Pharmacy Building At UNIMED

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has called on Private individuals, corporate bodies and organizations to collaborate with the State government in the development of University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo.

He made this known at the foundation laying ceremony of the Olu Akinkugbe Faculty of Pharmacy, an initiative of Olu Akinkugbe Pharmacy Education Trust at the University permanent site, Laje road, Ondo.

He expressed delight with the partnership of Olu Akinkugbe Pharmacy Education Trust (OAPET) with UNIMED for the take off of the Faculty of Pharmacy, while calling on other private citizens to emulate chief Akinkugbe for the development of the institution.

According to him, “the partnership provides a clear illustration of how we can move tertiary education forward in our dear State and country through the productive partnership of multiple stakeholders, especially Non Governmental Organizations and private citizens”

He, however appreciated Chief Olu Akinkugbe and his family for their generosity towards moving the institution forward.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olusegun Fatusi also hailed Chief Olu Akinkugbe for his contribution towards the take off of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

He added that the building, which the foundation is being laid will be completed in the space of twelve months, which will Mark the commencement of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Also speaking to journalists after the event, the immediate past governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko lauded chief Olu Akinkugbe for his initiative and also praised Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his commitment to the development of the institution.

The foundation laying ceremony had in attendance, Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his immediate predecessor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Osemawe of Ondo kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Adesimbo Kiladejo CFR Jilo III, the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Adesegun Fatusi, Akinkugbe’s family, top Government functionaries, management staff and students of UNIMED among others.

The University of Medical Sciences Ondo established seven years ago with the vision to be a thriving medical and health sciences University, locally, nationally and internationally recognised for excellence and innovation in health education and research.
