A traditional ruler, the Ireshi of Osi in Akure North local government area of Ondo State, Oba David Olajide has been nominated as the Traditional Ruler of the Year (2021) Award by Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC.

The Police Community Relations Committee was established on May 8th, 1984, by retired Inspector General of Police, IGP, late Sir Etim Inyang to  other things, promote police community collaboration, in order to address community security concerns, provide actionable information on crimes and criminalities as well as logistics support for the police. It is non-political, non-religious, non-ethnic and non-profit organization.

In a letter addressed to the monarch, the PCRC leadership said, “Your nomination for this Award is predicated on your prompt response in welcoming the newly created police zone 17 headquarters in Akure by donating 2.6 hectares of land and also going ahead to build the first set of administrative structures for the police.

It would also be recalled that the Monarch built and equipped a Divisional Police Headquarters in his community for the town few years ago.

“Your act of love will in no small measure deepen police community integration in the zone, for safety and security, which we deeply appreciate His Royal Highness.

“Your conferment ceremony will take place at the grand finale of the PCRC end of the year events holding on Wednesday December 8th, 2021, at the Nigeria Army Resource Center, Mambllla Barracks, Asokoro Junction, Abuja,” the letter reads.
