The immediate past Commissioner of Health in Oyo state, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan on Thursday asked the Governor of the state, Seyi Makinde and his party – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to avoid wrath of God with their alleged diversion of N50billion endowment fund from the state coffer.
He said N50 billion was the target of the government, but only about N60 million was realized, despite pledges of more than 100 million naira adding that the likes of a former vice president Atiku Abubakar did not fulfil their pledge and many others.
Adeduntan advised opposition to stop making wrong allegations against the late former governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi simply because he is no more.
The former governorship aspirant of the party said he welcomed the said probe by the state government, if truly he has facts and figures on the alleged diversion of the fund.
Adeduntan in a statement he personally signed on Thursday said the spokesman of the ruling party in Oyo state is ignorant of the happenings in the past administration.
The former commissioner argued that the endowment fund was extra ministerial which was not under the control of the ministry of health.
He noted that to ensure probity, late governor Ajimobi ensured that it was managed by a board of trustees, led by a renowned Late Professor Oladipupo Akinkugbe, Professor Noibi, Dr (Mrs ) Otolorin, Arch Bishop Ladigbolu, Architect Adeboye, a permanent secretary and Dr Adeduntan as an observer.
The international cardiovascular expert said he was not unmindful of the spurious and libelous allegations of the past administration because he had labeled Seyi Makinde’s tenure – as a failure and an administration that is based on propaganda, false populism, grand standing and incompetence.
The statement reads in part; “The endowment fund was extra ministerial. Not under the control of the ministry of health. To ensure probity, Governor Ajimobi ensured that it was managed by a board of trustees.
“The funds were managed by a board of trustees led by renowned Late professor Akinkugbe, professor Noibi, DR (Mrs ) Otolorin, Arch Bishop Ladigbolu, architect Adeboye, permanent secretary and Dr. Adeduntan as an observer. If he wants to probe the board of trustees, Adeduntan welcomes it.
“The board of trustees were carefully selected and untainted in their various careers. It will be a wild goose chase ,a barren and futile exercise. We are not unmindful of these spurious and libelous allegations as DR Adeduntan had labeled Seyi Makinde’s tenure – a failure and an administration that is based on propaganda, false populism, grand standing and incompetence.
