There are indications that President Muhammadu Buhari will head to Spain next week, as part of the grand plan of the APC cabals to perfect a consensus deal with Goodluck Jonathan.
Buhari who had earlier traveled to Malabo on a two-day visit had since returned to Nigeria.
But as the politics of the 2023 election gathers momentum and the APC special convention billed for next weekend, Buhari is said to be planning another trip out of the country. This is to enable the cabals in APC led by his nephew Mamman Daura to perfect their plans of fostering Jonathan on the party as the consensus candidate.
Recalled that a high court sitting in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State on Friday cleared Jonathan to contest the 2023 elections.
Jonathan ruled Nigeria between 2010 and 2015, after succeeding late President Umar Musa Yaradua. He however, lost out in his bid to get a reelection when in 2015, he was defeated by Buhari.
Sources in the know about the developments around Jonathan observed that he became the toast of the APC cabals because of his dispositions to the Buhari government, even after he was ousted in 2015. Also, the fact that Jonathan is going to rule for another four years, was another reason why the APC cabals wanted him ahead of other aspirants in the party.
