Photos: Mimiko’s Elder Sister, Prof. Bestman Bows Out Of Service At OAU

Prof. Rukayat Folajoke Bestman – Nee Mimiko, a Professor of African Literature in French at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife today Thursday, May 19, gave her valedictory lecture.

Prof. Bestman bowed out of service having attained the retirement age.

Ex Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko in a terse message posted on his Facebook page on Thursday congratulated her elder sister for the feat, the Mimiko family and the entire Ondo kingdom.

“Congratulations to my dear sister, Prof. Rukayat Folajoke Bestman (nee Mimiko) as she delivered her valedictory lecture at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, earlier today.

“On behalf of my siblings and the entire Mimiko family of Ondo Kingdom, I wish to say that we are proud of your impeccable service and impactful contributions to the university and humanity.

“I pray that the Good Lord will grant you sound health and more productive years, as you bow out.”

Similarly, Dr Mimiko was honored by the University’s management with the Distinguished Alumnus Award.

He wrote:

“I feel highly honoured and grateful to my alma mater, the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, for this distinguished great Ife alumnus award, presented to me by the VC, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, at the Oduduwa Hall….”
