The Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo, Hon. Dr Bode Ayorinde, says he has no regret creating the Students’ Union Government at the University.

Ayorinde was speaking while declaring open the Darey.IO tech debate at the University’s Trinity Auditorium on Wednesday.

The legal practitioner said when the decision to establish the Student’s body was mooted, there were arguments for and against, but he stood his ground, adding that the creation of the Union has been of more positive gains than negative.

He added that the University would soon inaugurate the Students’ Union Secretariat and Office in the next few months.

“We are spending over N50m on the building and by the time it is ready, it is going to be the first of its kind in a Nigerian Private University.

“We are not training goats here and I believe that the creation of the Union has made the Students to be more active in leadership skills.

“Whoever has passed through Achievers Students’ Union Association would benefit from this process and I believe that one day, such Student Leader would become a future President or Governor.

“I was a member of the Student’s Union at the Polytechnic Owo. When I was at the University of Ibadan, I was a member of the Law Students Society Executive. All these added to what we are today as per public speaking, confidence, administration, etc,” he said.

Ayorinde, however, urged the Students to behave very well in order to sustain the spirit behind the creation of the Student’s body.
