Soji Megbowon, Ondo Indigene Wins Lagos 2022 State Teacher Of The Year Award

An indigene of Ondo State, Megbowon Soji has emerged one of the recipients of the best teachers award in Lagos State for the year 2022.


The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on Wednesday presented 13 Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to outstanding teachers selected across the six education districts.

The teachers were presented with the vehicles because of their commitment to duty and the introduction of modern tools and ICT in teaching and learning processes in schools.

Megbowon Soji who hails from Okitipupa LG of Ondo State was among the finalists nominated for the Year 2021 Teachers’ Merit Award, by the Screening Committee, led by the chairperson of the Association of Private Educators in Nigeria, Mrs Lai Koiki.

Megbowon earlier in 2020 donated an Internet of Things (IOT) Innovation Lab to students of Jakande Estate Comprehensive Senior College, Abesan, Ipaja-Lagos.

Megbowon, the Maltina Teacher of the Year, First Runner Up 2019, INSEA Award winner and Global Prize Teacher finalist was full of joy while receiving the SUV.


He said, the award is a testament that the little impact his making among the pupils is being recognized and that the award will further spur him to do more.

Other recipients of the brand new SUV include Michael Ayoola (Primary School teacher), Omolayo Fadayomi (Primary School teacher), Bolanle Alamu (Senior Secondary School administrator), Adeola Adefemi (Senior Secondary School teacher), Adenike Ojo (Junior Secondary School Administrator), Folasade Oyedeji (Junior Secondary School teacher), Oluseyi Amoo (Junior Secondary School teacher), Olubukola Dosumu (Junior Secondary School teacher), Olusegun Muftau (Primary School administrator), Fauziyat Adegeye (Primary School teacher), Yahya Adesokan (Senior Secondary School teacher), and Lukman Agbabiaka (Special Education Needs teacher).

While presenting the award Sanwo-Olu said the reward was for selflessness, dedication and diligence among teachers in the state.

He said that the initiative was in line with the commitment to use education as an instrument to change the world and influence the teaching profession.
