Pantami, Olowo Of Owo, Justice Salami (Retd) to get honorary degrees

Achievers University Owo is set to award degree to 520 graduands at its 12th Convocation ceremony billed for Saturday, December 10, 2022.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof S.O Aje made this known at a press briefing on the 12th Convocation and 15th Anniversary of the the Institution.

He stated that 30 students graduated with First Class Honours, 242 with second Honours Upper division, 152 with second Class Honours Lower Division and 19 with Third Class Honours.

The V.C appreciated the University Governing Council for graciously approving the tuition free program in the 2020/2021 academic Session in which a total number of 893 students have benefited from the tuition fee arrangement since inception in 2021.

He stated further that the tuition free arrangement is for everyone who meets the requirements for the various 12 courses approved for the programme as there is no discrimination whatsoever, but it is on first come first serve basis and the arrangement is for three academic Session.

He equally showed his gratitude to the Governing Council for granting 50% tuition scholarship for UTME and Direct Entry candidates in some Engineering Programmes.


“The duration for the 50% discount lasts for the duration of the programme. This has equally enabled those who under normal circumstances may not have had the opportunity to study Engineering in a prestigious University, like Achievers University, have access to quality education.

Honorary Degree award will also be given to distinguished Nigerians, who are;
His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Ajibaderinwa Gbadegeshin Ogunoye 111, the Olowo of Owo; Honourable Justice Isa Ayo Salami, CFR, OFR, former President, Court of Appeal of Nigeria and Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, FCIIS, FSCS, FNCS, Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.

Prof. Aje also highlighted some of the infrastructural facilities going on in the institution which includes construction of the students Centre, which was commissioned by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. S.O Aje.

The Vice Chancellor said the institution management is working assiduously to improve on all existing facilities on ground and commence the running of programmes in the College of Medicine, Pharmacy, Aviation and Education. He stated that when the College of Aviation takes off, it will be the first of it kind in West Africa as discussions are on with partners in these areas and that they have gone ahead to acquire the land for the airstrip of the College of Aviation.

Part of the activities to celebrate the 12th Convocation and 15th Anniversary ceremonies of the Institution includes;
Induction of first batch of Engineers which takes place on Wednesday, 7th Dec. 2022.

On 8th December, 2022, the school shall be presenting 96 graduates of Medical Laboratory Science to Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria for registration as Medical Laboratory Scientists.

On 9th December,2022, they shall equally be presenting 114 graduate Nurses to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for induction as Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Midwives (RM).

On Friday 9th December, 2022, the Convocation lecture shall be delivered by Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, Honourable Minister of Communication and Digital Economy on the theme “Digital innovation and Entrepreneurship as a panacea to unemployment”.
