The Nigeria Union of Campus Journalists, (NUCJ) Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo Chapter, has again honored two friends cum journalists, Ado Adeboye and Kayode Afolabi, in recognition of their unwavering and invaluable support from time immemorial to the union.
The duo had last year, received similar awards from campus journalists in RUGIPO, after their unfeigned dedication to the speedy growth of the press council were conscientiously x-rayed.
The magnanimous gesture, again, reverberated this year, as they were conferred with awards at the 2022 NUCJ press week which was a beehive of activities and was held at school premises during the weekend.
The awardees—Adeboye Ado, bagged ‘Most Sophisticated Press Instructor of the Year’, while Kayode Afolabi received The Most Supportive Editor of the Year’.
During the award presentation, the guest speaker at the lively event, Mr. Adeola Adekoya, a Lecturer in the Dept. of Mass Communication, said he was not astounded by the awards given to the journalists, saying the duo friends have been helpful to their alma mater through adequate dissemination of pieces of accurate and unbiased information.
Adekoya, however, advised the recipients to burnish the kernel of hardwork and endeavor to toe the ethics and tenets of journalism in course of their lawful duties.
Responding, Ado who received his award and that of Afolabi, who is a reporter at Hope Newspaper and was unavoidably absent at the event, extolled the council for finding them worthy.
He said, “we thank you for honoring us, we never expected it from this noble council. We are immensely humbled to receive this special awards from you.
“These awards sincerely acknowledge our assiduous effort, and it is a huge admiration. Kayode sent his greetings, he is currently on the field working”
