The Coalition of National Interest Defenders on Monday alleged that there is a secret plot by the Department of State Security (DSS) to arrest the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and keep in solitary confinement for at least six months for alleged terrorism financing.

The coalition made the allegation during a press conference in Abuja addressed by its Coordinator, Tochukwu Ohazurike, and some other officers.

It alleged that a frontline 2023 Presidential Candidate, a Presidency top shot and some cabinet ministers and potential beneficiaries of the plot in the CBN were part of the plot but refrained from naming any of them.

The coalition cited an alleged secret court case filed against Emefiele by DSS at an Abuja court as evidence that the alleged plot is real.

It called for the removal and arrest of DSS Director General, Yusuf Bichi, “for undermining the office of the President” in connection with the alleged plot purportedly hatched to truncate CBN’s naira redesign policy aimed to frustrate vote buying during the 2023 general elections.
