Press Week: Felix Ale Celebrates Outstanding Journalists In Ondo

The Head Media and Corporate Communications of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Sir (Dr) Felix Ale, has rewarded outstanding journalists in different fields of journalism in Ondo State.

The development came to the fore on Friday at the occasion of press week 2022 of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo State Chapter.

The NASRDA spokesman, through a platform he established to reward excellence and professionalism in the media, Sir(Dr) Felix Ale Professional Merit Awards, SD-FAPMA, sponsored awards for the Broadcast journalist of the year in the television and radio categories, Print journalist of the year, Best veteran journalist of the year, as well as a Special award of excellence for good leadership and performance.

The winners in the categories are as follows; Broadcast journalist of the year (Radio) was Olufisoye Adeniran of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, and Broadcast journalist of the year (TV) was Juliet Buna of Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC. Saheed Ibrahim of The Hope Newspaper, won the Print journalist of the year, while Best veteran journalist of the year went to Chief Seinde Omokoba, and the chairman, Ondo State NUJ got a special awards of excellence for good leadership and performance.

Special awards of excellence for good leadership and performance was accompanied with a cash prize of 100,000 naira and best veteran journalist of the year awardee had 50,000 naira cash prize, while the rest of the category received 40,000 naira each.

Dr. Ale, in his address congratulated the recipient of the awards. He noted that diligence, commitment and hard-work are key ingredients to attaining excellence, and urged them to continue to be good ambassadors of the journalist profession.

The scholar, who eulogised the chairman of NUJ, Ondo State, Mr. Leke Adegbite for his stellar performance and providing good leadership for the union in Ondo State, said he felt compelled to appreciate the leadership and members of union for their applaudable discharge of responsibilities and contribution to the pen profession. He promised to continue to partner with the union on its path of progress.

“This is my source and its continuous development concerns me. I started my journalism career in Ondo State Television Station. OSRC, and I am proud of where the journey has led me. This award sponsorship is not going to be a one-off programme. It is going to be yearly”. Dr Ale said.
