The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) in Ondo state has announced that 26 students bagged first class degree ahead of its maiden convocation.

NAN reports that Temi Ologunorisa, the vice-chancellor, broke the news at a briefing in Okitipupa on Monday.

The VC said the convocation, scheduled to hold on March 25, comprises five graduating sets of 2014/2015 to 2019/2020.

Giving a breakdown, Ologunorisa said a total of 982 graduands will participate in the convocation.

The VC said 307 of the granduands bagged second class upper division while 488 and 161 had second class lower division and third class respectively.

The VC said graduates of the institution are highly sought after globally due to their intellectual capacity.

“Our first class graduands are not a run-of-the-mill because they undergo series of academic scrutiny and that is why they are the best anywhere they go,” he said.

The VC said the varsity had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with various institutions across the globe under its blue economy programme.

This, he said, was aimed at making the university a world-class institution that would be able to compete favourably with its peers across the globe.

He also thanked Rotimi Akeredolu, the state governor and visitor to the institution, for coming to the university’s rescue when it was almost in comatose.
