The race on who becomes the next Speaker of the House of Representatives is on top gear. Over 10 returning Lawmakers have shown interest to taking over from Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila. As expected, the choice of who becomes the next Speaker have made the elected lawmakers pitched a lot of interest against each other.
Certainly, a lot of factors may determine who picks the number four seat in the country. The President-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu hails from the South West and the Vice President-elect, Kassim Shetimma from the North East, it is imperative that Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives hail from geopolitical zones of North West, North Central, South South and South East for equity and fairness.
Among the elected lawmakers that have indicated interest in Speaker’s position are Yusuf Gadgi, Ahmed Wase, Tunji Olawuyi, Tajudeen Abass, Sanni Jaji, Aliyu Betara, Sada Soli, Benjamin Kalu, Ado Doguwa, Abubakar Yallerman.
In the Upper Chamber, some Senators from the North West are agitating for the Senate Presidency while lawmakers from the North Central are also clamouring for the Speakership but with the Tinubu and Shettima presidency, the agitation of the people of North West might be a futile exercise.
There are expectations that the APC might pick the Senate President from either the South East or South South region. If that permutation is right, then the North West stands a better chance to producing the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.
One man, however, stands out among the contenders for the Speakership, he is Dr Aminu Sanni Jaji, the lawmaker representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency from Zamfara State. He has proven his mettle as a man to watch out for in. A charismatic politician with clear vision for inclusiveness and building a united assembly for the betterment of the nation.
If the ruling party choice for the Speaker favour the North West, Hon Jaji is better positioned to be elected as the next Speaker. His intimidating political credentials stand him out as the best man for the job. What the House of Representatives needs at this time is a leadership that can unite and bring about national cohesion among different ethic groups, political parties and religious sects in the House. Hon Jaji posseses all it takes to lead a formidable Assembly; he is very influencial with high level of integrity. He possess cognate experience of the running of the House and well respected by his colleagues. He is a highly respected politician Zamfara have ever produced. His dedication and commitment to people’s welfare over the years has no doubt proved his worth.
He first won election to the House of Representative, in 2015 and served as Chairman, House Committee on National Security and intelligence between 2015 to 2019. His constituent relected him in 2023 due to the many achievements recorded. He is not be a green horn in the In-House Politics that produces Principal Officers. Hon Jaji is a grassroot politician, and philanthropist who started his active political career as Chairman of the defunct ANPP in Birnin Magaji Local Government in 2008. He was later elected as Executive Chairman Birnin Magaji Local Governnent in 2012 and served as Secretary ALGON Zamfara State Chapter.
He has proven his leadership prowess which is second to none. He is a goal getter, results oriented, a man of honour, integrity and a promise keeper who will not discriminate against religion and ethnicity. Jaji has paid his dues and sacrificed a lot for the survival of the ruling APC and the President elect. Throughout the presidential campaign. He transversed the nook and cranny of the country during the campaigns and ensured the North West Zone delivered the highest votes for Tinubu in the general election.
Jaji is a politician that prioritizes the welfare of his constituent. He has changed many lives through his Jaji Scholarship Scheme and foundation. He has sponsored education of thousands of student as part of his support for youth education.
The best man for the House of Representatives Speakership job is Hon Jaji.
