Dr. Atinuke Olubukade Akintayo has been appointed the acting Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State.
Dr Mrs Akintayo becomes the first female to head the Department. She succeeded Dr Peter Awofadeju.
Until her appointment, Dr Akintayo was member of several committees in the University.
A brief on Dr Akintayo
Atinuke Olubukade Akintayo is an experienced Journalist and erudite Media Researcher/Scholar. She has over a decade experience as Journalist, Media Consultant and Public Relations Practitioner before joining the academics, beginning her career with the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC) in 2002, from where she moved to FUTA Radio 93.1FM in 2011 and thereafter she got employed as a Newscaster/News Editor/ENG Editor at the African Independent Television (AIT) DAAR Communications, Akure.
Dr. Atinuke Akintayo has over 21years cognate experience in Mass communication practice. She is an alumnus of Imo state University from where she obtained her first degree in Mass communication. She later obtained a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in 2012 and second Master’s Degree in Peace and Security Studies from Ekiti State University, Ekiti State, Nigeria in 2019. Dr. Akintayo did not relent in acquiring knowledge as She later bagged her PhD, in Mass communication from Adeleke University, Ede Osun State, Nigeria, in 2021.
She left the media to join the services of Joseph Ayo Babalola University, (JABU), Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, in 2013, where she is currently teaching Broadcast Journalism, Digital communication, Development Media Studies.
A specialist in Journalism, Broadcasting, Development Communication, Strategic Communication and Peace communication, Dr. Atinuke Akintayo has been involved in rural development programmes for teenage girls, women and children in rural communities.
Dr. Akintayo is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Practitioners (NIPR) and the Association of communication scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) and Associate Fellow of the African Academics Network (AFAAN).
She has written several articles in reputable local and international Journals.
