Ade Adetimehin, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, says opposition parties in the State are ‘dead’.
Adetimehin stated this on Monday on the sidelines of the mega rally held at the Democracy Park, Akure, the State capital, whereby thousands of defectors were received from opposition parties.
The party chairman hinged the success of the APC on the support from Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
According to him, the mega rally is an attestation to the fact that all the leaders in the party are focused and united.
Adetimehin added that most of the defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), such as Olumuyiwa Adu and Bode Obanla, are today in the APC because they already know where the State is heading to in 2024.
When asked if the new entrants into the APC were induced ahead of next year’s election, Adetimehin, who shrugged off such insinuation, maintained that the APC has been receiving defectors from the opposition parties before now.
Also speaking, the former Senior Special Assistant to Youths in Ondo State, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the APC is waxing stronger with the new entrants.
According to him, the next governorship election in Ondo State is a work over for the APC.
A former House of Assembly member, who recently joined the APC, Yinka Banso, said most of the new defectors are convinced, just like he was, that the APC is the party to beat.
