Deji Of Akure Excited As Ulefunta Festival Is Fast Becoming A National Brand

… Deji, Ulefunta Festival Committee receives drugs donated by ACPN.

The Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba (Dr) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi has described the Ulefunta Festival an emerging national brand attracting a widespread attention. He described the rebranding of the festival as a child of necessity that will encourage rejuvenation of our culture and draw global attention to the rich culture of Akure people.

The Monarch stated this while receiving drugs donated by the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria under the leadership of Prince (Pharm.) Adewale Oladigbolu on behalf of the Ulefunta Festival Committee.
Oba Aladetoyinbo affirmed that the Ulefunta festival have no idolatry coloration but rather an annual traditional prayer period that reunite all Akure sons and daughters, as well as her friends in order to give back to their communities.
Oba Aladetoyinbo thanked and appreciate the good gesture of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria for fulfilling its promise of donating drugs towards the Ulefunta Medical Outreach programme. This will go a long way in supporting the underprivileged and making healthy life more affordable and accessible, Oba Aladetoyinbo said.

The Chairman of the Ondo State chapter of the ACPN, Pharm. Babalola Osabiyi Taiwo who represented the National Chairman said the donation was in fulfilment of the pledge made by the Association during the 2022 festival and to also complement the good work being done by the Akure Community through the Ulefunta festival committee. Pharm. Babalola said that Akure Kingdom had always demonstrated good example of cordial community relationship with the Association. He equally affirmed that the Association will continue to support the committee yearly in ensuring effective community medical outreach.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Ulefunta festival committee, Olu Adekunle Ajanaku thanked the ACPN for redeeming their pledge made in 2022 while urging them to be part of the 2023 edition and beyond. Olu Adekunle Ajanaku said that the Ulefunta festival now have many components of which the medical outreach is an integral part. He highlighted other key areas of the festival to include skill acquisition programme, scholarship for brilliant indigent students, revamping our cultural values and Ulefunta cooperative society in which are already yeilding positive results.The Chairman urged other Pharmaceutical companies and philanthropists to support the annual medical outreach and other aspects of the 2023 ulefunta festival which is scheduled to hold between August and October this year.

The Chairman gave a hint on the latest rebranding of the Owa Oropo marathon race which he described as a brainchild of the Ulefunta festival. ‘We are already rebranding the race to attract global audience and this shall be part of what we will be unveiling few weeks from now’, he added.

The Chairman of the Medical Outreach, Pharmacist Kunle Asaolu promised the effective usage of the drugs donated by the Association and equally assured that the Medical Outreach will continue beyond the Ulefunta festival period.
