Following the positive sighting of the moon by the Saudi authorities on Sunday, Muslims the world over will celebrate eid-ul-adha festival also known as Ileya in western Nigeria on Wednesday, June 28.
The festival is a popular one in the Muslim world as it has a significant relationship with the holy pilgrimage observed in Makkah every year.
The day of Arafat, which precedes the day of Eid (festivity) will now come up on Tuesday, June 27.
A Saudi based blog, Life in Saudi Arabia had earlier reported the sighting of the new moon.
“Eid Mubarak! The crescent for the month of Dhul Hijjah 1444 has been sighted in Saudi Arabia. Eid-ul-Adha will be on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.”
