Members of the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners , ANPMP, gathered at the state secretariat of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA HOUSE) at Alagbaka in Akure on Thursday JUNE 8, 2023, to elect new officers to pilot their affairs in Ondo State.
Announcing the results of the election, the returning officer, Dr Olu Aladesuru, declared the unanimous decision of the medical doctors as Dr Oyelami Saliu, the Medical Director of Shifauk Hospital in Akure, was elected unopposed as State Chairman.
He is to be assisted by Dr MAO Ojo, a retired permanent secretary of Ondo State Hospitals Management Board, elected as Vice Chairman.
Others are Dr M. A. Omololu as Secretary and Dr Emmanuel Odji as Treasurer of the state leadership of the private medical constituency of the Nigerian Medical Association.
The emergence of Dr Saliu, popularly known as Aroleorisun, the Orisunlagba concept exponent, has been described as a landmark in the history of medical leadership in Ondo State and Nigeria in general.
Members of the medical association including a former Minister of the Federal Republic, Dr (Chief) Abitoye; Dr Kola Ademujimi, Chief of Staff to former Governor Olusegun Mimiko; Dr Ade Tade, former national president of the association and Dr Niran Okunrinboye, former Chairman of Hospitals Management Board, were among dignitaries present at the occasion.
Dr R.O. Saliu is a product of Barakat Community Secondary School in llorin, University of llorin and International Institute of Journalism, Abuja, among others.
