A socio-political group, the Sunshine Advancement Ambassadors has called on Ondo State Government under the leadership of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to deploy the free shuttle buses now in order to help cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on students across the 18 local government areas of the state.
Parents in Ondo State have lamented the attendant inflation brought by the new fuel price regime which have caused their children untold hardship as many of them have to trek to their schools which are far from their homes while the financial burden on the parents are unimaginable.
Through a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Akure, the Chairman of the group, Sunday Agbotoba stated that it has become necessary for the state government to make life more bearable for its citizenry.
Agbotoba said; “Since the removal of subsidy from premium motor spirit, also known as petrol started, our children in schools across the state have been experiencing hardship on daily basis.
“This is the time the state government should bring out free or subsidized shuttle buses to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal on the school children.”
“However, If the shuttle buses are not readily available to be deployed, government should provide alternative means of cheap transportation for the children “
