Dr Lucky Oghenetega URHIEWHU (CLN, CMLN) has been appointed the Acting University Librarian, Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, Delta State.
URHIEWHU was appointed on June 13, 2023, in a letter signed by the University’s Registrar, Mrs. Isioma Genevieve Obadan.
Over the years, Dr Urhiewhu has consistently built an impressive CV as a passionate scholar, researcher and an administrator of Library Science, which have evidently manifested through his engagements in different universities in Nigeria, South Africa and United Kingdom.
Dr Urhiewhu has passionately and dogmatically built his career as a Librarian, from the cradle of scholarship to his attainment of a PhD, the terminal degree, in Library and Information Science. After obtaining a Diploma and Bachelor degree in Library and Information Science from Delta State University, Abraka, Dr Urhiewhu proceeded to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, to earn a Master’s degree in the course. His unwavering passion for knowledge further took him to Imo State University, Owerri where he finally obtained a PhD in Library and Information Studies.
Dr. Urhiewhu, an astute researcher, Indexer, Infopreneur, Data Analyst and Social Media Analyst, has published about eighty research works in local and international platforms including articles in journals, essays in books and fulfledged books. His professional certificates include: Professional Development Programme for the Next Generation African Library and Information Professionals at University of Pretoria, South Africa; Certified International Librarian Network, United Kingdom; Certified Librarian of Nigeria and Certified Medical Librarian of Nigeria.
Dr Urhiewhu started his career in humble beginning as a trainee of book binding later became a Binder (Book Doctor) in 2005. He is a Youth Corps Member (National Youth Service Corps) at Adekunle Ajasin University, Library. Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State. Over the years, he has held teaching appointments in the Department of Library and Information Science at Madonna University, Okija Campus Anambra State, 2013- 2016 March. He had a brief stint with Taraba State University, Jalingo where he was appointed as Ag Visiting University Librarian in 2015. He worked at University of Medical Science Ondo from 2016 to April 2022. He was a Senior Librarian at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba from May 2022 to May 30, 2023. On 13th June, 2023, was appointed as the Ag. University Librarian of same University. His research interests include: Entrepreneurship in LIS, Electronic information resources retrieved methods, health information literacy, Security of Information and publishing.
Dr Urhiewhu is happily married with children.
