Toward ensuring prompt and efficient service delivery in Ondo State, the Ondo State House of Assembly is to collaborate with the Federal Fire Service, Ondo State command.
Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Oladiji Olamide Adesanmi said this is necessary to protect the people against fire disasters and the associated implications.
Dr Sehinde Fanokun, Special Adviser Media to the Speaker, disclosed that the Speaker stated this while receiving men of the Federal Fire Service, Ondo State Command, who paid a courtesy call on him in his office, Alagbaka, Akure.
According to the Speaker, men of the fire service are crucial to the combat of disasters such as fire and flooding among others.
“We need your wealth of experience in the area of flooding which is the major issue affecting our environment in this season.”
While expressing displeasure on the inferno that gutted two ambulances at the Ondo State Emergency Medical Service Agency (ODEMSA) , Bolorunduro and Ondo East Local Government Secretariat, Bolorunduro, the Speaker advised the state commandant of the Federal Fire Service to be proactive in their service delivery and provide adequate security at their facilities.
Rt. Honourable Oladiji also stressed the need for the Federal Fire Service to always consider recruiting Ondo State youth when the opportunity arises.
Also speaking, the lawmaker representing Ilaje constituency 2, Hon Olawumi Fayemi Obayelu emphasized the need for the Federal Fire Service to adequately sensitize the people on how to contact the agency in times of emergency.
The state commandant of the Federal Fire Service, Mr Olu James had earlier congratulated the Speaker on his recent election to the exalted position.
Mr Olu James pledged to collaborate with the Ondo State House of Assembly toward ensuring an efficient service delivery to the people.
