Youths in Akoko North West Local Government under the platform of Akoko North West Local Government Youth Forum (ANWYF) have inaugurated a new leadership led by Samuel Mayowa, on Sunday.
The inauguration of the executive was peaceful and well attended by youths across the towns in the local government area.
In his inaugural speech, Mayowa said his focus was to work for the empowerment of the young, adding that he participated in the election following all the laid down rules and was elected by members from the 10 wards that make up the local government area.
He promised to set up a committee to look into the grievances of the aggrieved members.
“This is another opportunity for us to serve and we must prioritise the interest of Akoko North West youths at every given time, we must drive programmes, skills acquisition programmes, training that will sharpen the mindset of our youths. We have a lot of entrepreneurs among us and one thing we will be doing is to seek partnership, funding for the young entrepreneurs and organise training that will help them polish their skills. This is a mantle to serve and on this mantle we will never fail”, he stated.
Members of the executives include: Oloruntoba Mary as Vice President; Ajiboye Samuel as General Secretary; Salaudeen Emmanuel as Treasurer; Ismaila Akeem Oladimeji as Financial Secretary; Amubieya Oyindamola as Welfare Director; Ogunmusi as Public Relations officer (1); Akinpelumi Babatunde as Public Relations officer (2).
Others include: Adekunle Busuyi as Auditor (1); Adejoro Morakinyo as Auditor (2); Adebayo Ayodeji as Director of Special Duties; Grace Matthew as Director of Socials; Agbaje Adegboola as Ex-officio; Alonge Taiwo as Organising Secretary; Fagbuyi Emmanuel as Assistant General Secretary.
In his comments, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee who is also the Chairman of the Congress Planning Committee, Christopher Bayode Olusa said the congress which produced the new executives was credibly conducted after consultation with relevant security agencies and stakeholders. He commended the mature display of the youths and urged the new executive members not to betray the mandate given to them.
Bayode further noted that “The electoral committee led by me met and fixed a date for congress and election, 14 days notice was given and the meeting was presided by me as the Chairman of the Congress Planning Committee and the Electoral Committee and today I have handed over to the new exco”.
The Congress also appointed new members of the board of trustee to serve the association in an advisory role.
Members of the Board of Trustees include: Bakare Ibrahim Makanjuola; Ibrahim Azeez Oladotun; Owolo Tunde Peter; Daniyan Dare; Ojo Olasehinde.
He, therefore, advised those aggrieved to follow due process in airing their grievances by getting in touch with the committee that will be constituted soon.
