Federal Lawmaker, Tunji-Ojo Empowers Market Women In Ondo With N50m

The Lawmaker representing Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has expended N50 million to empower 1000 market women in Ondo state.

The move, the lawmaker said, was to help reduce poverty level and hardship among the less privileged as well as strengthing the economy of the constituency.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Akadri Atinuke at a program organised to launch the initiative, Tunji-Ojo said the gesture is to fulfil his promise to the market women who are very important drivers of the constituency’s economy.

While encouraging the beneficiaries, he urged them to continue to work hard and make good use of the opportunity to help

In his words, “Akoko North East and Akoko North West Local governments are the economic hub of Akoko. We promised to invest in the prosperity of Akoko and this is what we are doing today. We will not stop here.”

One of the beneficiaries, Alhaja Muhammed Risikat appreciated Tunji-Ojo for the gesture, and prayed that God continues to bless him and strengthen him to do more.

According to her, “This initiative will help boost our trades and expand the economic capacity of our Federal Constituency. We appreciate BTO for fulfilling his promises always. He will continue to prosper.”

The empowerment is coming weeks after the lawmaker gave out 50 million naira bursary to students in the Federal Constituency.

Tunji-Ojo has been praised by constituents for the infrastructure drive and employment opportunities facilitated by him.
