Ondo Reps Member, Hon. Adefiranye Sad Over Ore Tanker Explosion, Seeks Govt’s Support For Victims

The lawmaker representing Ileoluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Hon Festus Ayodele Adefiranye has expressed sadness over the tanker explosion that occurred in Ore, Odigbo Local government area of Ondo state on Sunday which reportedly burnt more than 20 people and several people injured.

The House of Reps member who commiserated with the injured victims and the families of the dead, called on the state and federal governments to urgently reach out to victims and pay compensation to families of those who lost lives and property in the unfortunate incident.

In a press statement, Hon Adefiranye said: “I was broken when I learnt about the tragic accident at Ore in Odigbo Local government of Ondo State which was reported to have claimed the live of a pregnant woman, children among others

“The families of the deceased, please, accept my heartfelt condolences. I pray that almighty God will comfort you all and grant the departed eternal rest.”

“On behalf of my family, and the good people Ileoluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency, we pray for the quick recovery of the injured ones who are recuperating in the hospital.

“While we also pray that God will grant the families of the deceased and other loved ones the fortitude to bear their losses and, more importantly, the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed, I want to call on the federal government to speed up actions in awarding and dualising Ore-Ondo-Akure Highway to reduce avoidable accidents,” he stated.

Recall that on Wednesday, the House of Representatives urged Federal Ministry of Works and Housing authority to include reconstruction and dualisation of Ore-Ondo-Akure Federal Road in Ondo in 2024 budget and prioritise its funding.

The call was sequel to a unanimous adoption of a motion by Rep. Festus Ayodele Adefiranye (APC-Ondo) at the plenary.

Moving the motion earlier, Adefiranye said that the Ore-Ondo-Akure Federal Road, in Ondo, which is approximately 88.14km, has been earmarked for dualisation by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing several years ago.
