Towards Impactful Lawmaking, Ondo, Other Southwest Speakers Parley

As part of efforts to expand the frontiers of knowledge in lawmaking and bringing the dividends of democracy to the people, the Speaker Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Oladiji Olamide Adesanmi today received a delegation of his counterpart Speakers from Oyo and Osun States in his office, Alagbaka, Akure.

The speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin who led the delegation congratulated the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly on his election to the exalted position.

Rt. Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin noted that the visit, expected to be replicated across the Southwest states was meant to synergise on how best to advance the instrumentality of lawmaking for the benefits of the electorate.

According to Rt Honourable Ogundoyin, the Southwest is the knowledge database of Nigeria hence the need to harmonize ideas and policies that would be impactful to the people.

The Oyo State Speaker maintained that for the Lawmakers to realize the objectives for which they were elected across the Southwest, there must be avenue to cross vitalise and ventilate ideas.

Speaking on financial autonomy to the judiciary and legislature, Rt. Honourable Ogundoyin noted that the Lawmakers would synergise on how best to advance the autonomy law in the interest of judiciary and legislative staff.

Corroborating his earlier position, the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Adéwálé Egbedun said the new level of interaction among lawmakers in the Southwest will further benefit the electorate.

While welcoming his colleagues to his office, the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Oiadiji Olamide Adesanmi lauded the smooth relationship among Lawmakers in the Southwest a development he observed is novel.

He expressed optimism that the current rapport among Lawmakers in the region which is devoid of political affiliation, would enhance cross ventilation of ideas in the art of lawmaking and enhance development n the Southwest.

“The meeting which l term a new dawn in lawmaking will provide avenue for knowledge sharing and the people will be better for it.”

Rt. Honourable Oladiji reaffirmed his pledge to work with relevant stakeholders towards ensuring that the electorate benefit maximally from their elected representatives.
